Sources with the campaign of Libertarian Party presidential candidate Bob Barr are livid at reports that National Rifle Association Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre will endorse Republican John McCain today.

The NRA has spent millions in an effort to expose Democrat Barack Obama as an opponent of Second Amendment rights, and the Associated Press reported yesterday that LaPierre will speak today at press conferences "to make an announcement on the presidential election."

Barr has been a member of the NRA Board of Directors, and officials of the former Republican congressman's campaign said they had been told the NRA would not endorse a presidential candidate this year.
