John Lennon's birthday!

I'm not much of a fan of the later Lennon -- after he married that evil creature whose name is an epithet to all true Beatlemaniacs -- but the early macho rockin' Lennon was awesome.

As a songwriter, Lennon's strong point was his witty lyrics, such as the Beatles' first No. 1 hit, "Please Please Me" -- as rock critic Lester Bangs said, the underlying meaning of the song is, "It takes two to heavy pet, luv":
